Need for Speed - Shift discards some features that have been so dominant in games in recent years. Forget police chases. Forget the open world that Need for Speed - Underground introduced. Thanks to this game engine, the game recreates the racing feeling down to the smallest detail. If you floor it, you will, just like in real life, be pressed against your seat. The field of view in NFS - Shift reacts dynamically to these actions. Abrupt braking results in a camera zoom forward, hard cornering tilts the camera left or right depending on the G-forces, and finally, the camera will also react to a crash. If you crash hard into something, the camera will shake you around. Extra motion blur and sound effects, which emphasize the sudden impact, narrow your field of vision and make your heart race.
