Resistance 2 is a first-person shooter developed by Insomniac Games and the sequel to Resistance: Fall of Man. The story follows Nathan Hale, who, together with the Sentinels, battles the alien Chimera invasion threatening the United States. The game offers a large-scale campaign with spectacular battles, ranging from intimate street fights to confrontations with gigantic enemies. In addition to the single-player mode, the game features an extensive online multiplayer with competitive matches and cooperative missions for up to eight players.

The online multiplayer could support up to 60 players simultaneously, which was one of the largest numbers on PlayStation 3 at the time.
The game introduced gigantic boss fights, including the famous Leviathan, a creature tens of meters tall.
Resistance 2 featured a separate cooperative mode with its own story and class system, distinct from the single-player campaign.
