Alone In The Dark

Edward Carnby, paranormal private eye, is back.

Carnby's best friend, Charles Fiske, has been found dead near Shadow Island, a mysterious island near Maine. It is your duty to begin the investigation and uncover the secrets of Shadow Island. But you won't be alone... your companion will be a redhead named Aline Cedrac who has her own reasons for joining. Besides being a woman and inexperienced in the world of danger, she is the only one with the knowledge to translate the ancient Abkhani tabloids that may hold the secrets behind the death of Carnby's friend and the disappearance of Aline's father.

Upon arrival on the island, your plane is shot down by unknown entities, and the heroes have no choice but to parachute, causing them to be separated on the island.

Now you choose the character to play as, either Edward Carnby or Aline Cedrac, as they explore the mysterious and gloomy island with all its secrets and parallel storylines that contain different locations and tasks for different characters, increasing the level of replayability into another experience - Carnby's story is more action-oriented, while Cedrac has more puzzles to solve.

As with its predecessors, you move your characters through pre-rendered backgrounds as the camera perspective changes. You collect various items and books used to solve puzzles. Many situations can only be resolved by force, meaning you have to use weapons to get rid of your enemies. Aiming is manual, and especially when playing as Cedrac, ammo is scarce. Saving a game costs a save medallion that you can find during the game.
