Pokémon Gold, released for the Game Boy Color in 1999, is the first title of the second generation of Pokémon games. It is set in the Johto region, where players follow a new storyline, discover new Pokémon, and catch legendary creatures such as Ho-Oh. The game introduced numerous new features, including a time-based day and night system, Pokémon breeding, and the addition of 100 new Pokémon. Gold also includes the ability to travel back to the Kanto region, allowing players to battle the Gym Leaders from the original games (Red/Blue). This extensive content, along with improved graphics and new gameplay mechanisms, makes Pokémon Gold one of the most beloved and nostalgic titles in the Pokémon franchise.
