Blood Omen 2 – Legacy of Kain is an action-adventure game where you play as the vampire Kain. Four hundred years after the events of the first installment, he awakens in a world where his armies have been destroyed and his power has waned. In the industrial capital of Meridian, he joins the resistance group the Cabal to seek revenge on the Sarafan Lord, defeat his enemies, and reclaim the legendary Soul Reaver. The gameplay combines sword fighting and other weapons with vampire powers, stealth, puzzles, and gothic exploration.

1. Different development style
   This installment was made by a separate team, which gives it a different visual style and gameplay feel compared to other Legacy of Kain games.

2. Alternate timeline
   The story takes place in an alternate branch of Nosgoth's history, causing some events and characters to be slightly different from the rest of the series.

3. Dark Gifts as core gameplay
   In addition to weapon combat, Kain uses special vampire powers, known as Dark Gifts, which are necessary to solve puzzles and overcome enemies.
