Rival Schools: United by Fate is a dynamic 3D fighting game developed by Capcom, with a unique focus on high school students competing in spectacular tag team battles. Each character comes from a different school and has their own fighting style, story, and motivations. The game combines fast-paced action with impressive combos, team attacks, and anime influences, making it one of the most original fighting games on the PS1.

Three interesting facts:

  1. Tag team system with team combos:
    Players choose two fighters and can perform spectacular team attacks during the battle. This added strategy to the fights and made the action more intense.

  2. Unique school theme:
    Each character represents a fictional Japanese school, complete with matching background, school uniform, and motivation, providing an original approach within the fighting genre.

  3. Extra disc with School Life mode (in Japan):
    The Japanese version included a second disc with a visual novel-style “School Life” mode where you built relationships with other characters. This was not included in the Western release.
