Shadow of Rome is an action-adventure game developed by Capcom, set in ancient Rome at the time of Julius Caesar's assassination. The game combines violent gladiator battles with stealth missions and political intrigue. You alternate between playing as two characters: Agrippa, a Roman soldier who fights as a gladiator to save his father, and Octavianus, a young nephew of Caesar who tries to uncover the true circumstances of his murder. This combination of brutal action and stealth gameplay gives the game a unique structure.

1. Two completely different playstyles: Agrippa’s gameplay revolves around arena combat, where you violently eliminate enemies with swords, clubs, and even severed limbs. Octavianus, on the other hand, uses no violence and must achieve his goals through stealth, disguises, and puzzles.
2. Spectacular arena battles: The gladiatorial fights are intense, bloody, and varied. You can pick up weapons from the ground, entertain the audience for bonuses, and improvise with the environment to defeat your opponents.
3. No sequel despite cliffhanger: The game ends with open questions and hints of a larger conspiracy, suggesting a possible sequel. Although Shadow of Rome 2 was in development, the project was cancelled. The developers later used elements from it in the Dead Rising series.
