Need for Speed: Carbon is a street racing game set in a nocturnal open world full of glowing neon lights, police chases, and rival gangs. You take on the role of a mysterious racer returning to Palmont City to restore their reputation and reclaim control of the city — district by district.

The game introduces a new type of race: Drift races in mountain passes (Canyon Duels), where you are pushed to the limit on narrow mountain roads. You also assemble a team of fellow racers with unique skills such as blocking or speed boosts. The atmosphere is darker and more cinematic than its predecessor, Most Wanted.
