In this stylish reboot of the classic Prince of Persia series, you enter an enchanting world full of magic, danger, and acrobatic challenges. The game introduces a new prince — not directly connected to previous installments — and takes place in a mystical realm threatened by an evil god, Ahriman. Together with Elika, a mysterious female ally, the prince must purify corrupted areas and restore order.

Gameplay revolves around fluid acrobatics, sword fighting, and cooperation with Elika. The game stands out for its unique visual style, inspired by cel-shaded animation, and an open-world structure where players decide the order in which they explore areas.

  • No game over screen: Players cannot 'really' die in this game. If you fall or lose in combat, Elika automatically saves you and places you back in a safe spot. This was a notable design choice at the time.
  • New prince, new story: This game is separate from previous Sands of Time titles and introduces an entirely new storyline, character, and mythology.
  • Visual style inspired by painting: The game uses a striking cel-shaded graphic style that makes it look like a moving illustration or animated film.
  • Elika as partner: Unlike previous installments, Elika is always by your side. She not only helps in combat but also with acrobatics and puzzles.
  • Open structure: The player can freely choose the order in which the corrupted areas are tackled, which gives a sense of freedom within the world.
