Upon its release, Forza Motorsport set a new standard for realistic racing simulations on console. Developed by Turn 10 Studios and exclusively released for the original Xbox, it was immediately positioned as Microsoft's answer to Gran Turismo. With an extensive career mode, hundreds of cars, and in-depth tuning options, Forza offered an unprecedented racing experience for its time.

Three interesting facts:

1. Debut of a racing legend
   This was the very first Forza title and the beginning of what would later become one of the biggest racing franchises ever. The solid foundation of realistic physics and extensive customization options formed the basis for everything that followed.
2. Damage that matters
   Unlike many competitors at the time, Forza Motorsport featured realistic vehicle damage. Not only visual, but also mechanical – a crash had a direct impact on your performance on the track.
3. Advanced AI with ‘Drivatar’
   The game introduced the unique 'Drivatar' system. Players could train an AI driver based on their own driving style, who could then race independently. This concept was further developed in later installments.
