Final Fantasy VIII is an epic role-playing game set in a futuristic world full of political intrigue, magical conflicts, and personal dramas. The game features turn-based combat, a unique "Junction" system for magic and abilities, beautiful cutscenes, and a captivating story full of emotional depth.

Three interesting facts:

  1. Innovative Junction System:
    Instead of traditional magic points, players use the Junction system to link spells to stats. This offered unprecedented freedom but was also complex and controversial among fans.

  2. High-level CGI cutscenes:
    FFVIII's cinematic cutscenes were groundbreaking for their time. Especially the opening scene with the fight between Squall and Seifer set a new standard for visual presentation on the PS1.

  3. Triple Triad minigame became a cult favorite:
    The in-game card game Triple Triad became so popular that it was later re-released in subsequent Final Fantasy titles and as a standalone app.
