Final Fantasy Anthology is a compilation of two classic Final Fantasy games that originally appeared on the Super Nintendo: Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI. This collection officially brought the beloved RPGs to the West for the first time via the PlayStation. Both games feature edited CGI introductions and ending cutscenes. With epic stories, strategic turn-based combat, and rich worlds, the bundle offers an in-depth RPG experience for both newcomers and veterans of the series.

Three interesting facts:

  1. First official release of FFV in the West:
    Before the release of this Anthology, Final Fantasy V had never been released outside Japan. This version introduced the unique job system to a new audience.

  2. Addition of CGI cutscenes:
    Both games received specially made, short CGI cutscenes that were added to mark the transition to the PlayStation era. This gave nostalgic content a fresh visual presentation.

  3. Technical glitches on PS1:
    Although strong in content, both games in this compilation suffered from slight delays in loading times and menu navigation due to the PS1 hardware. Players particularly noticed this compared to the smoothly running SNES originals.
