Fight Night Champion is the fifth and final game in EA Sports' popular boxing series. This edition is known as the most realistic, raw, and story-driven boxing experience ever in a video game. The game introduces the revolutionary “Full Spectrum Punch Control” and a cinematic Champion Mode, which takes the player into the dramatic story of fictional boxer Andre Bishop.

With an in-depth combat system, authentic boxing styles, and a lineup of legendary boxers such as Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Manny Pacquiao, and George Foreman, Fight Night Champion is a mix of sport and story, tactics, and brute force.

  • Champion Mode – a first for EA Sports: For the first time, an EA sports game featured a narrative single-player campaign. The story of Andre Bishop follows his rise, incarceration, and fight against corruption in the boxing world.
  • Raw and mature: The game received a Mature (17+) rating, unusual for sports games. Champion Mode included swearing, brutal knockouts, corruption, and prison scenes — elements not typically found in sports titles.
  • Full Spectrum Punch Control: The traditional right-stick controls were refined into a more intuitive system. Players could fluidly execute hooks, jabs, uppercuts, and body blows with precise stick movements, without pre-set combinations.
  • Authentic damage: Boxing matches show realistic injuries. Cuts, swelling, and blood affect your performance and vision, making medical interventions during breaks important.
  • Legacy Mode: Outside of Champion Mode, players could still build their own boxing career in Legacy Mode — a classic career mode where you create your own boxer and fight to become world champion.
  • Broad roster of boxing legends: In addition to modern stars, the game features dozens of legendary boxers, including Rocky Marciano, Joe Frazier, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Julio César Chávez.
  • Online boxing: The game had an extensive online mode, including tournaments and leaderboards, where players worldwide could compete against each other.
